Our mounted games riders did our branch proud today in less than ideal conditions.
First up were our novices of Esme, Emily, Evanna, Poppy and Fallon.
They rode extremely consistently and although they did not grab an overall placing they had some super results in their heats….. Winning the sweetie race (obviously the power of Haribo). Special mention to Rebecca Brookfield who takes 1st in super speedy leading stakes.
The team did come home with a well deserved 3rd in tack and Turnout.
Well done all.
Next up were are seniors of Lillie, Lily, Ellie, Scarlett and Will….. and what a nail biter, arenaline fuelled competition this was. It was very tight for the top 5 spots and 3 teams would qualify for zones. They were holding onto the third by one point right up until the last race, 5 flag. Unfortunately, this did not go to plan and had them into a race off, with them finishing the day in an extremely credible 5th.
The team are always very hard on themselves and are their own worst critics but they rode their socks off and should be extremely proud of themselves.
They also took 6th in tack and Turnout.
The day finished with pairs. With 3 sets in the competition they kept me busy with fast and furious races. The weather turned on us towards the end to add to the difficulty level but WOW….. they did a great job.
Will and Lily (Wheelton noughts/circles) rode well but had a few pony issues. Whilst unplaced overall they had some credible heats.
Scarlett and Joe (Wheelton crosses) stuck at it despite some cheeky pony moments and made it into a race off for 6th but sadly they just missed out on the rosettes. I am sure their day will come soon.
Ellie Stapley and Lucy Melchers (Wheelton red cats)…… What can I say……….. They were just Amazing…….. And they are off to zones with a fabulous 2nd place. You have both worked so hard for this.
Thank you all for coming.
Thank you parents/grandparents for bringing them, stewarding, feeding me etc…. This would not be possible without you.
Thank you to our members for giving it their all today and at training.
Thank you to Pendle and craven hunt for a fabulous competition xxxx
