What a fabulous day Wheelton have had at the Casterton Triathlon.
Esme competed in the Beanie Triathlon, swimming for the first time. She absolutely smashed the swim doing 54 metres in the 2 mins allowed. She came 12th out of a huge class of 19, her beanie team came 6th.
Emily competed today for the first time in a triathlon. She did amazing, confidently completing all phases and loving every minute. Her mix Wheelton and Pendle team came 4th.
Edward got a personal best in the swim doing 100m in the 2 minutes, a personal best in the run, but a lower than usual shoot score gave him 7th overall, his minimus mixed area 4 team came 6th.
Evanna absolutely smashed it today. One of our more experienced triathletes and personal best in all phases. An exciting finish to her run getting joint second, a shoot score of 700 and a good swim score secured her 8th place in a busy Tadpole class. Her team with Emily and two Pendle members came 4th.
Paige competed for the first time today going straight in at Junior level. She shot for the first time 12 days ago and has to shoot turning targets one handed. A 1500m run and a 3 minute swim. It’s a big ask for a first triathlon. She did amazing. Towards the end of the run she was finding it hard going but in true Wheelton style, our younger Wheetloners and some other competitors ran with her on the last of her grueling six laps to the biggest cheer of the day. I’ll be honest a few of us shed a tear.
A fabulous event as always and our members showed how supportive and encouraging they are of each other…and there was no mud
