Triathlon @ Shropshire Feb 2023

It was a very early start for our triathletes competing at North Shropshire Branch’s triathlon. There were 186 entries at this lovely venue. It was sunny and fresh, perfect triathlon weather.
We had a winner in the Tiddlers Triathlon, Jessie ran like the wind, swam like a goldfish and threw the bean bags on target to get Best Shoot, and 1st overall out of a big class of 12.
Tom entered the Tiddler Boys, a fabulous run put him 3rd after that phase, a good beanbag throw and a good try in the swim just knocked him out of the placings.
Esme did a fabulous run, good beanbags and swim coming 9th/17 in a huge Beanie Girls class.
Emily’s second time competing in a triathlon and she’s gained personal bests in all phases. She’s been practicing shooting and more than doubled her shoot score from the last triathlon.
Eliza gave it her all in the run, she shot a PB of 660 in the shoot (equal to her older sisters shoot score) and gave her all in the swim. No placings in a huge Girls Minimus class of 24 but she was chuffed with PBs and that there were a few behind her in the placings.
Edward’s run was probably a PB but it’s hard to compare when all venues differ in surface and how hilly it is. Near PB in the swim, but a lower than usual shoot score knocked him out the placings in a big Minimus Boys class.
Scarlet C got a PB in the swim, the same shoot score as her young sister (who will remind her of this regularly) putting her out the placings in the junior girls.
HOWEVER, all families competing for Wheelton won a raffle prize, Esme won two. It wasn’t the biggest of raffles but as a branch we were definitely the luckiest. They all won appropriate prizes from books, grooming items, bath stuff and a sun hat ready for a trip to the 🌞.
Another fabulous exhausting day, especially for their parents/grandparents.
